The social media campaign for Canada’s annual Agriculture Day encouraged people to post selfies with “forks-up”, showing their support for Canadian foods and farmers.
The sector’s economic numbers are huge. In 2018, Canada’s food and beverage sector produced goods worth over $117 billion and employed over 250,000 Canadians.
Much of that economic activity is in rural areas, but we all benefit. So whether it’s a fork or a glass, let’s raise a toast to an industry that is the bread and butter of this country.
