New research posted on Nielson Online paints a questionable picture about Twitter retention. In the U.S., more than 60 per cent of those who sign up for Twitter are failing to return. I haven't seen Canadian rates, but I'm among those who have an account and don't use it. I don't have anything against Twitter and I'm happy for those who use it, enjoy it and prosper from it. I fact, I think it's ideal for daily news media working from tips. Mainly, right now I feel satisfied with my current forms of electronic communications, but that might change.

Thanks to senior communications officer Cort Egan of the University of Guelph's library for passing on the Nielson news item.
