Thanks to Guelph Mercury reporter Greg Layson for remembering our band, the GMOs, in his story about another attempt to broaden the professional hockey menu in Canada. Last summer the GMOs wrote the theme for the Make It Seven campaign by Research In Motion co-founder Jim Balsillie, which for us culminated with a performance before 5,000 people at a rally in Hamilton where Balsillie wanted to relocate the then-floundering Phoenix Coyotes. The relocation didn’t happen, but the momentum was sure there. Here’s a video of rally highlights, the video GMO bassist Rob McLean created to support the song, along with us backstage before the gig in Hamilton’s Jackson Square: (from left) Len Kahn, me, Rob, Rob Hannam and Doug Larson. Thanks to Lisa McLean for the pic. It was a great day!
