Farmers face a myriad of issues daily. Factors like erratic weather, disease and trade wars can throw a wrench into the best-laid plans.

Now there’s another challenge on their horizon. It’s related to weather, but this one’s made by humans – the carbon tax.

Last fall’s continuous downpours across the country meant that much of the grain and oilseed crop had to be harvested wet.  Farmers were forced to use dryers to prevent it from rotting in storage.

Now they’re being hit with a carbon tax for the fuel they used to make their crops marketable.
